We cross the Great Dividing Range to Bathurst, Goulburn and Albury and we journey through the rich grazing lands where the Merino Sheep established the nation's prosperity. You can marvel at such surprises as Dubbo's Western Plain Zoo - where Lions, Tigers and Elephants roam free. You will discover the rare opal at Lightning Ridge and see the Ghost Towns and the outback city of Broken Hill and admire the splendour of the Menindee Lakes in the Kinchega National Park. Wander in the Minnamurra Rainforest and enjoy the waterfalls of the Illawarra Plateau. Visit the snowfields of the Snowy Mountains, Mt Kosciusko and traverse the Murray River from the Alpine headwaters to Lake Hume. You will behold the magnificent shores of the Southern Coast of New South Wales, the panoramic vistas's of Jervis Bay and the famous Blow Hole at Kiama - we then take you to the picturesque north to Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour and Byron Bay. Stroll through the serene beauty of the Botanic Gardens and go back in time to surround yourself with the sounds of Old Sydney Town and the historic settlement of The Rocks. You will discover the natural beauty of the Blue Mountains and the aquatic playground of the Hawkesbury River featuring Brooklyn and Wisemans Ferry. TOWNSVILLE - Tropical Gateway of the North

This 30 minute program shows the magnificent town of Townsville in Queensland, shining constantly with it's gleaming tropical beaches, stately Queensland architecture and fabulous marinas. Townsville is the first stop in Nature's theme park, housing the Great Barrier Reef Aquarium, the Town Common, the Billabong Sanctuary and the unique Palmetum - accessible from Townsville is the fabulous wilderness retreat of Magnetic Island with it's breath taking secluded bays and sun drenched beaches. We then take you to reminders of the booming gold rush era, to the towns of Charters Towers and Ravenswood, where examples of early Edwardian architecture preserve a golden past. We then explore the wet tropical heritage areas of Hinchinbrook and the magnificent rain forests in the Mt Spec National Park and the spectacular Wallaman Falls. And to Ingham, with it's mediterranean heritage reflected in the lavish mausoleums. In the surrounding region, scenting the tropical air, there are fields of waving sugar cane, ready for processing at the Victoria Mill and then ferried out to waiting ships via the amazing Lucinda Jetty. This is a great program in the Panorama Australia Series that shows Queensland's glittering gateway of Australia's tropical north. |

This is a 30 minute program that explores the magic and mystery of Western Australia's remote Pilbara Region. Through the untamed beauty of rugged gorges like Joffre, Knox, Kalamina, Dales and Weano in the Karijini National Park to the refreshing waters of tropical oases in Millstream Chichester National Park, this is a voyage into the heart of Nature. At Newman, see the incredible excavations at BHP's massive Mount Whaleback Mine. Explore contrasting towns that have grown as a result of the mineral boom - Port Hedland with its magnificent harbour and Karratha the coastal gateway to the North West. We discover the Burrup Peninsula, it's secluded sandy beaches and site of ancient Aboriginal rock carvings. Experience eerie remnants of the Pilbara's most famous ghost town, Cossack, once a thriving base for pearl diving. We visit Australia's hottest town, the legendary Marble Bar and unravel the secret of its colourful origins in the Coongan River. We travel the Fortescue River to the picturesque Fortescue Falls, explore the Old Comet Gold Mine and we traverse peaks of the mighty Hamersley Range. The Pilbara is a spectacular land unchanged by time, a land truly of rustic images captured beautifully by Panorama Australia. |
